Hi! Welcome to my page!

I created this website to allow people to learn more about me than just what my resume or LinkedIn says. Come for my portfolio and stay for pictures of my house cat I have shamelessly fallen in love with.

Who am I?

My name is Paul Walsh, and I am currently a senior at the University of Kansas majoring in Strategic Communications with a minor in Political Science. I have enjoyed learning more about our world ever since my time representing the country of Ukraine during my first Model UN conference while attending Blue Valley Northwest High School. So far, I have had the opportunity to intern at two great Kansas City companies, Americo Life and Clinical Reference Lab, helping improve their social presence and marketing strategies. My goal is to use my marketing skills to further improve a company’s brand image through Integrated Marketing Communications and Public Relations.

From News Room to Agency

I spent a lot of time in the broadcast room at my high school after joining the staff my junior year. The opportunity to share people’s stories otherwise forgotten about was an unforgettable experience. A year later, in 2018, I was ‘promoted’ to Executive Web Producer my senior year helping out the newspaper staff editors earn a top 10, national place finish in the overall website category. That same year I earned the Top Student News Feature Story award from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters for simply sharing the everyday life of a peer with a disability. This sent me to accepting admission into the University of Kansas School of Journalism and to focus on improving my skills as a communicator.

After my first strategic communications class at KU, it was very obvious I had to switch my concentration and pursue a future in marketing. My time on the student radio KJHK 90.7 was enjoyable but I could not deny my creative side. I have had opportunities to create marketing objectives and materials for our university counseling services CAPS and Tub O Towels with the help of amazing professors at the J School. I don’t know where my career will take me but I’m sure it will be a fun ride.
